In the summer of last year, Jackie, who many of you will know from Johnstons of Grange, joined 'Team Daisy' for one day a week. I have since learned that she has worked in Johnstons of Grange for 39 years and enjoys creating beautiful displays with jewelry, watches and clocks. A typical day involves ensuring that the shop is tidy and presentable, cleaning jewelry so that they really sparkle and helping customers find the perfect item for themselves or as a gift for someone special. Having worked there for so many years, Jackie is an integral member of this small family business which is now owned by Gary and Dawn Johnson.
Not only is Jackie great to work with, but she also loves reading! After work she loves curling up with a good book and is a big fan of romantic fiction, especially works by authors such as Milly Johnson and Dilly Court. “I love the way they write and keep you transfixed for the whole story line. Their characters feel real to me, and I often find myself thinking about their stories long after I’ve finished reading.”
Crime fiction is a genre Jackie is just starting to explore; books by authors such as the Cumbrian writer Rachel Lynch for example. Although I tend to read writers from the 'Golden Age of Detective Fiction, like me, Jackie loves to lose herself in a book or story and often reads between eight and ten books a month!
Do you read that many? I have to confess that I don't manage to read that many, but I'm not far behind.
