About Us

Daisyroots Book Shop is a thriving, real bricks and mortar independent book shop; stocking a wide range of second-hand titles, including Crime to Military History, Mind, Body, Spirit, Art and Music. Established in Kendal in 1994 we have been trading in Grange since 2006. We aim to stock a wide range of titles at prices to suit all pockets. At the last count, we had over 40,000 books! Our quality standards are very high – so much so that it is not unusual at first glance for people to mistake us for a ‘new book’ shop.

       

Customers tell us that they really enjoy looking through our extensive fiction and literature section including everything from early PAN pulp fiction to modern paperbacks, Penguins, and collectable first editions. Other frequently visited areas of the shop are Railways, History, Lake District, Mountaineering and Observers.

Keen to encourage children reading we stock a range of children’s and young adult’s fiction, children’s literature, and classics by writers such as Alison Uttley, Brent-Dyer, Enid Blyton and Roald Dahl.

Beyond second-hand books, we also stock:

  • the full range of new Ordnance Survey Landranger maps
  • north-west orientated selection of Ordnance Survey Explorer maps
  • second-hand maps
  • lots of walking guides and information about visiting Cumbria and the Lake District.
  • a selection of wickedly funny cards by local supplier CowShed Cards in addition to ones taken by our resident photographer Nick Thorne, who specialises in taking photos in and around Grange 
  • some gorgeous A2 and A3 prints from local gift and design company Northern Line
  • a few select Cumbria-based puzzles and jigsaws

We're proud of our popular, well-organised 'real' bookshop which is open all year round.  Inside you will find a warm welcome from 'Team Daisy', Chris, Elaine, Izzy, Alison or Jackie.
